I Survived

Well I survived the ice storm that hit nh on the night of December 11th. Was without power heat or water till yesterday. 96,000 in the state still remain without it. My sister being one of them and she may not have hers back till after Christmas according to the power company. There were near 500,000 without power Friday morning. My kids spent the first two nights here but when temperatures plumeted on Saturday they went to my mothers house. I stayed here and toughed it out with the dogs and looking at my face now may not have been the best idea as its looking like i might have had the start of frost bite on my cheeks. But I made the best I could of it. cooking on the bbq girl, running a fire outside in the fire pit. Sunday i ended up staying at my dads with the kids to get the puppy out of the cold as well. What a miserable weekend. And I am severly feeling the toll it took on me today. Also crying like a big baby constantly. SO thats all for now. Below is some youtube footage I found of the devastation. Whoever says natural disaster dont happen in the northeast is dead wrong.
The one below is of my town but it shows none of the destruction from my end of town we still have roads shut down.

Tag Im It

Ok I never get tagged so thanks Mo for thinking of me. Sadly I have no one to tag back but I'll answer the questions anyway.

Egg nog or hot chocolate?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm Very tough choice. Does the eggnog have rum in it? lol Ok truth is I'm more of a hot chocolate kinda girl. Especially the land o'lakes flavored ones. If you can get the graham cracker one its to die for. Add marshmellows and it tastes like a liquid s'more mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Does Santa wrap presents or set them under the tree?

Its about half and half. Santa always puts unwrapped movies on the tree and a free unwrapped ones under the tree when Santa's hands are too tired from wrapping.

Colored lights on tree or white?

COLORED and mine dance and sparkle and blink lol

When do you put your decorations up?

Usually the day after THankgiving. I go shopping at 3 am and then come home soup up on coffee and decorate. But not this year just honestly wasnt in the mood. But all the decorations are up now.

What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

Well we do a holiday buffet at my Grandmother's house. Hard to pick from all that people bring and its different every year. Ummm maybe the shrimp and cream cheese spread or the garlic dip mmmmmmmmm or the bleu cheese dip and veggies or my uncles chili or my other uncles chicken wings or my mom;s lasagna. OMG now im starving. Food is my favorite part of Christmas tradition and this year I have no vacation planned so I dont care if I get fat over the holidays.

Favorite holiday memory as a child:

When I was 3 all I wanted for Christmas was a monchichi. And after all the presents were opened I was heart broken cause I didnt get one. My grandfather had bought me one of those ride on ladybugs and he told me to open the seat. Inside was my monchichi that come to find out he waited 4 hours in line at the toy store to get. For my birthday this year over in Amsterdam I got the exact same one bought for me again because mine is pretty worn but yes I still have my first one. And I cherish them both.

When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

Truth what truth would that be? Are you trying to say Santa isnt real? LIARS!!!! I believe in Santa and always will.

Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

When I was little we opened presents at my prents house with my dads side of the family on Christmas eve. Now that my mom and dad are divorced and my grandmother on that side is dead we dont do that. But we have lovely christmas eve dinner at my sisters house and exchange a few small gifts.

How do you decorate your Christmas tree?

I give the kids all the middle and bottom decorations and I do the top and then when they arent looking I readjust all the bottom ones so they arent all in one spot.

Snow! Love it or dread it?

Love it December through February come March I hate it.

Can you ice skate?

I used to be able to. We will see as there are plans in the works to try once this year. As well as February school vacation for the kids my sister and I are planning on learning to snowboard with the boys.

Do you remember your favorite gift?

Yup same as my favorite memory my monchichi.

What's the most important thing about the holidays for you?

Family

What is your favorite holiday dessert?

HAHAHAHAHA its so stupid and its not even a dessert but its my favorite at holiday time. ANDES CANDIES!!!!

What is your favorite tradition?

JUmping in the car on a cold Christmas morning and racing to my Grandmothers house to try to be the first ones there. lol Shes truly one of my best friends in the world and I am thankful for every minute I get to spend with her and hope there are many more to come. Anyway just having my entire family together talking over one another stuffing our faces with buffet food and the kids int he background whining about when we get to open presents lol Its truly well magical to me.

Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?

WHat kind of perverted question is this? lol ok bad joke I know. I'm totally a giver. To me gift giving at Christmas time is all about the kids. So long as I see those wide eyes and huge smiles I dont need any other gift.

What is your favorite Christmas Song?

Baby It's Cold Outside.... The Frank Sinatra version

Candy canes! Yuck or yum?

Yum so long as they are the plain peppermint kind. Im not found of those weird flavored ones. But the peppermint ones yummo I buy peppermint mocha creamer for my coffee and use the candy candy cane as my coffee stirrer.

Ever recycled a Christmas present?

Never if I dont like a present I dont give it to someone else. Why on earth would I give someone something I didnt like. Thats just mean.

Don't Be A Scrooge! Tag 7 friends to Deck the Halls...

Like I said no one to tag but have a Happy Holiday Season

Attack of the Killer Shoppers

I dont know why I subject myelf to this every year. I go out among all the rude hateful people of the world and shop. I was standing in line at 230 this morning to get the best deals on kids toys. Mostly the stuff I wanted that was on sale was for my daughter and one paticular thing that is the ONLY thing on my eldest sons Xmas list. He wanted a remote control helicopter or airplane. Usually 50 dollars each he has had neither and its show up the last 3 years on his christmas list. Well Walmart had the airhog remote control airplane and helicopter combo pack for 20 dollars. SO this year he gets both. SO i was being a nice person and anyone who wanted electronics though i was there much longer then most people I allowed those people to scoot infront of me. Yes believe it or not I was being a good person this morning. THen some lady threatened to punch me in the face over by dvds. And then I come to read that a Walmart worker in Long Island got trampled to death after the people ripped yes you read that right RIPPED the doors off the sotre and rushed in. FOr a holiday that supposed to celebrate peace joy and love it sure brings out the ugliness in people. *sigh* Well off to clean and set up christmas decorations

Stressed to the Max

So I figured Id get a heads up and check out the black friday ads for the end of this week. Well now I'm ready to cry because I have no idea how on earth Im gonna afford christmas this year. Rent due the 1st, cable due the 28th of this month, Oil almost at empty. Right now it seems almost impossible to make this a good christmas for anyone. I mean I know togetherness is the whole point of Christmas and all that. But right now I cant help but feel hopeless about the entire situation. Theres just simply not enough money.

My Much Awaited Twilight Review

OK here is my much awaited review. Let me relieve some stress first AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! OK that's for all the craptastic reviews I've read this weekend. I went and saw the movie a second time after reading the reviews in case I was blind and deaf the first time I went to see it. Nope I wasn't I loved it just as much the second time around if not more. So in my review I will not only give my opinions but also tackle some of the things I have read and put them into prospective.

First lets start with the over all finished product that is twilight. Unlike a lot of people I thought that the cinematography was wonderful. It had a certain artsy quality to it, as well as a dream like feel. Though others thought that the special effects were poorly done (specifically people seemed to have a problem with the sparkling of Edward in the sunlight) I thought they were extremely well done for the budget this movie was given. The movie had a total budget of 35 million. Now that may seem like a lot but with a movie filled with special effects that is like having a family of 5 and having 20 dollars to go grocery shopping for the week. So I give them two big thumbs way up for they managed to do with the money allotted.

Next the story line. As ecited as I was for this movie to come out after loving the books so much I went in with very low expectations. I've seen numerous books to movies done in the past that just totally thrashed the original authors image. Can anyone say "The Shining"? I did not expect a verbatim of the book and for those who did they were likely disappointed. Reading the book before seeing the movie certainly helps and those who haven't read it were probably disappointed too. But if you are like me and only asked that they hold true to one aspect of the book I'm sure like me you were very pleasantly surprised. I knew that a 500 some odd page could not be condensed into a 2 hour movie. I knew things would certainly be left and I knew things would be added to make the movie flow. All I asked is that the love story between Edward and Bella ring true. And it most certainly did. People have complained that it was soooooooo obvious as it was in the book however in the book the undying love Bella has for Edward is most expressed in there thoughts and not really spoken because she always afraid of scaring Edward away. The majority of this was captured in looks on the screen. And to those who cant see the chemistry there I don't even know what to say. I was hot and squirming in my seat watching the two of them on screen together. And to the lame men who said Edward should have boffed her and gotten it over with well there's nothing to be said to them because they don't understand passion. The order of the book was thrown off and yes the love story a little rushed but of course the love story itself is like what a good 400 pages of the book. SO of course it was gonna feel rushed. A lot of the original dialog from the book is in fact in the movie. As for the changed order things happened or the different way they happened I can forgive all that cause again it held true to the characters. Yes I was a little sad the meadow scene was somewhat changed but again forgivable. I was sad the biology blood typing scene was left out because that is one of my favorite chapters of the book but they replaced it with a field trip so again forgivable. I was upset as well that Alice's history was left out not sure that one is forgivable cause it kinda is a vital part as are all the Cullen's history which you learn through the books. And Carlises paintings. So yes that is definitely something that was lacking in the movie. Kinda gonna be hard to set up for Eclipse if they make that movie cause that's where you learn Rosalies history. And Breaking Dawn where you learn so much more about Jasper. As well as Esmes history as well. Hmmmmmm yeah definitely not liking that the histories were only touched upon. Leaving out that Carlise was the son of a clergy man well that is the whole point of why he started feeding on animals and not humans. Yeah the more I think about it the more that's my biggest heartbreak with the movie. Now for the added plot line of the killings in Fork Washington. I don't think that the plot line was complete. I think they could have flushed it out a bit more to make it more believable. Believable in the sense that anyone who has read the books knows of the special "senses" of the Cullens and I felt like the killings came as a bit of shock to them. All in all though I thought they did the best they could do with the time a lotted. To include some of these things and still get the love story itself in would have made for a 3 hour movie and as the love story is what I cared most about still 2 thumbs up.

Now for the cast

Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart)- A lot of people seemed to have a problem with her acting. I thought she played Bella perfect. Clumsy, dramatic, stuttering(to many thoughts at once to form a sentence) stubborn. I've read over and over how she seemed to stutter over lines. I think the lines delivered any other way would have been that just lines and not convincing at all. I always viewed Bella as not only clumsy in movement but clumsy with the way things come out of her mouth too. Her facial expressions while over dramatic fit the character. Again she gets the two thumbs up for portraying the Bella I imagined. Then again the Bella in the book tends to be a bit like me lol so maybe that is my one definite biased opinion in this entire thing.

Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) - OK this one seemed to be a big problem for people from the moment he was cast. I think some didn't even give him a chance. Anyone who has read the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun posted on Stephanie Meyer's website knows that though Edward is perfect through Bella's eyes he is in no way shape or form perfect to himself. He hates himself. Add in the fact that hes constantly trying to not kill the girl he loves and that he constantly thinks that maybe he should just leave her alone for her own good you get what Robert Pattinson portrayed. A stiff awkward semi geeky guy full of angst. Looks back to the time of James Dean. Though most of the teenage going fans would probably go "who the hell is James Dean?" I thought Robart Pattinson did an amazing job. Yup he was the Edward in my head the entire time I was reading. But then again we all have a different idea of perfection don't we.

Charlie Swan- Bella swans dad SPOT ON!!! There distant relationship was perfect. So perfect that I felt like crying when she was talking to him as she was trying to leave Forks. And in a way I like that the modernized Charlie a bit more then he is in the books.

Jacob Black - OK this kid is perfect minus his actual physical size. Makes me a bit worried for New Moon when hes supposed to be around 6'5. Otherwise I thought he did an amazing job. You can see the cockiness already in him in the 3 scenes hes in the movie. To those who complained he wasn't in the movie enough I say reread the book he only shows up 3 times in the first book.

Bill Black- Still torn on this one as I pictured him completely different. I like that they modernized him a bit but at the same time I felt he should have been more severe or stern. Have to see what happens in New Moon for this character but I think it may be a hard one to pull off.

The Cullens:

Carlise- OK I cant how many times now I have read that the actor was too young to be Edwards father. DUH PEOPLE HES NOT HIS FATHER. He's Edwards father in the the sense that he made him what he is. Carlise if I remember correctly is all of 27 years old in the book. The whole reason the Cullens are supposedly all adopted kids. lol The actor was perfect. He had an extremely calming effect on the screen which is how Carlise is and at the same time a very authoritative presence. Again not a miscast at all.

Esme- Perfection 100% She was sweet and soft spoken. And her affection for Bella was apparent from the first second she was on the screen. Can not wait to see more of that relationship build on the screen.

Emmett - Yup you guessed my opinion on this one already. PERFECT! He's definitely up there as one of y favorite characters as the book progresses. Strong as an ox but always the joker of the group. This guy was a definite match. He was just a giant teddy bear. The bear that Emmett is in the book.

Rosalie - OK so this is supposed to be the most beautiful woman in the world. That's a lot of pressure to put on an actress. Mind you in the books the most beautiful woman in the world so much so it almost hurts to look at her comes from Bella's head. I think the actress they chose was wonderful. She was the type of woman any teenage girl would compare herself to when it came to beauty. She definitely had the bitch act towards Bella down to a T. Again no complaints about this cast member.

Jasper- OK all I can say after the reviews I've read is leave Jasper alone. He's supposed to have a constant internal battle going on with himself. He is the newest of the the Cullens and things are a lot harder for him. So the constant weird stare or the look that he was in some type of pain all the time was perfect. People called him constipated and to me that's just people who cant look beneath the surface of something and look at the eyes of a person. All I could say the entire time watching it was "Poor Jasper"

Alice- Perfection to the max. I could not have asked for a better Alice. Soft voice, cute little pixie and ever so graceful. Nothing bad to say about Alice.

The classmate :( Not much to say about them)

Mike- Big goofy dork and perfect.

Eric - Yeah just like a pictured him. I didn't picture him Asian but the personality was perfect.

Tyler- Wasn't as prominent a figure in the movie as he should have been and definitely didn't picture him as black I mean its FORKS WASHINGTON for christ sake. But I understand the PCness of the movie so my only complaint is that his story line was cut a bit short and I didn't get to see him as the real character he is in the book.

Jessica - PERFECT! Befriends Bella and is all sweet to her yet a serious bitchy undertone. Very well done one of the most perfect cast member's

Angela- Again a perfect cast member

The Other Vampire :

Victoria - Could have moved a little differently to make her a little more feline like in the book but over all a very well delivered performance. I instantly hated the character which well was the point.

James - Thought James was perfect from the second I saw him cast. He was such a sadistic ass. Loved him lol

Laurant- ( now for my rant) Why does no one else have a problem with this cast member? He is the biggest miscast to begin with. In the book hes described as olive skinned and hes black in the movie of course PCness of movies ringing through again. But I could have forgiven the physical miscast if it hadn't been complete character miscast. Laurant is I believe in the book French so when I first saw clips I could accept and Old English accent BUT watching the scenes in whole he sounds Jamaican WHAT THE HELL. Not happy about this cast member at all. And very sad that he must be recast for the next movie. Kinda had me wishing Laurant was killed instead of James in the first book. Yes it was that bad a mismatch.

My over all review of the movie is that it was 100 times better then I had expected. Two thumbs up. Well done Summit Entertainment. Lets just hope you have a bigger budget for New Moon cause its gonna need it.

Time for an update!

Ok so I must be the worst blogger in the world causeI rarely update lol. So I guess its time to write a little about the things in my life. So.... Oldest son turned 10 this week and all he wanted was an ipod for his birthday. Well thats exactly what he got. If I thought it was hard to get his attention before it's nothing compared to trying to get the attention of a preteen with headphones in his ears. Argh preteen I feel old. I'm the mom of a preteen now *sigh*

OK next bit of information. Why must I get a dog thats just like me. He's a complete spaz. The only thing he listens to is his name so needless to say training is not going well. I think he has PICA too the weird eating disorder where people eat things that arent ediable. He has this thing for paper. Can't leave paper anywhere cause.... well.... cause he eats it. Hes behind me right now eating PAPER. He never walks anywhere he runs from point a to point b. Of course hes a terrier so thats only normal. Toy fox terrier to be exact. His name is Oscar and he weighs all of 10 lbs. 10 lbs of pure terror. Hes a demon dog for sure. No not really hes sweet as can be but hes still a puppy. Heres a little picture of my problem child.

PLus all the tests Medically I have to go through before Im allowed to work. So Im gonna talk to my career counselor and see if I can put it off one term though I HATE to do that. Really thinking it through as to which is better the stress of trying to get everything done in time for january witht he holidays there or the stress of living where Im living with no income of my own hmmmmmm decision decisions. On a lighter note I have a fabulous new hats and shoes. LOL Bought with my well we could call it allowence or payment for work done as maid and nanny lol. Oh yes and one more thing. TWLIGHT COMES OUT TOMORROW!!!!!!!!! I'll be going to see it at 10pm. I'll put a review of it here this weekend. I'm afraid I might be a bit disappointed since they didnt completely stick to the book but I'll try to put the book out of my mind and view it just from a movie prospective. All I really care about is that they hold true to the love story anyway.

Updates ad all that jazz lol

OK so I never updated on my drs appointment. Basically I'm healthy as a hore for the most part. All my blood work looked fabulous accept for my cholesterol lol shame on me. I swear it was because I had lobster drenched in real butter a couple days before I went to have my blood work done. (yeah thats what I keep telling myself.) Anyway my bad cholesterol was 2 points above what they wanted it to be and my good cholesterol was 5 points below what they wanted it to be. Nothing major and no heart attack looming around the corner for me. The Dr put me on some old school meds for migranes. LOVELY. Cant drink cant drive cant do anything when I take them. Just what a mother of 3 needs. My medical history made it immpossible for him to give me something like Imatrex cause that would risk a stroke. I used to be on beta blockers a long time ago for migranes but he couldnt do that either. Turns out my heart only beats around 58 beats a minute and he was afraid of killing me if he slowed it down anymore. So now I have this mixture cockatil pill of acetaminaphin, caffine and butabital which is a barbituate. *sigh* Won't be taking that often. Then the Dr made me a take pregnancy test because of lack of period, I told him that he was completely wasting his time and resources there but he asked me to humor him so I did. Yup like I told him NOT PREGNANT. SO now I'm supposed to be making an appointment with my gyno which my lazy butt has not done yet. (most likely out of fear since Ive already stared the idea of canser in the face once and luckily caught it early enough that they were still precancerous cells) So yeah I'm being a big baby but I'll probably call this week and make the appointment. I'm 28 years old I should be having a period on a regular basis. So thats all my medical info for now. Kids are doing fabulous and naughty as ever lol. Parent teach confrences are friday. Cant wait for thanksgiving right around the corner. And being Christmas is my favorite holiday Im fight the urge to decorate every house I see. oh yeah and one more thing.

10 MORE DAYS TILL TWILIGHT *shrieks like a teenage girl*

Life in Art

Photobucket

So most people may not know but Im a HUGE Twilight fan. I read all 4 books in one week. Talk about sad huh lol. Anyway my sister got me involved in reading the books. It was funny because the lead character if You take away the fact shes in high school is A LOT like me. Come to find out thats why my sister wanted me to read the books. She had a found a character in a fiction book I would seriously relate to. The girl is pale and pale can be. She talks in her sleep. She constantly doubts anything special about herself and she risks her life daily by getting out of bed because shes so clumsy. Then on top of that as the stories progress she find herself with the affections of two men ( ok at this point i could kill my sister for getting me into these books) One guy is the perfect guy the one she wants and would give her life for. That would be Edward. The other is fun to be around at times but is rather annoying however they still manage to maintain some weird friend ship. That would be jacob. Oh life imitating art for christ sake. I can see how I got into the books because if You took away the werewolves the vampires and high school life this was my life. However I didnt get my Edward I got stuck living with Jacob argh.

A Fairy Tale Life

Photobucket

All girls grow up on fairytales. Hoping one day their fairytale comes true. I think we all get a chance to have our fairytale life. However there is no guarentee of happy endings or how long it will last. Fairtales just give us an unrealistic version of lifes happy endings. THe happy ending is merely that you make it through everything in one piece.

~Life is just a chance to grow a soul.~

This is my current favorite song guess you could call it my fairytale song....
